Dagmar and Judy Jenner Comment on Interpreting Quality of Mubarak’s Speech
The year 2011 has been a challenging year for Egypt, and in February, things took an interesting turn with President Mubarak’s speech, which was widely broadcast and interpreted from Arabic into many other languages. However, depending on which channel you listened to, you might have heard a poor, very poor, average, and an occasionally good interpretation of this important speech. So what was Mubarak’s message? It depends on the interpreter, unless you are a native speaker of Arabic.
A NPR national correspondent contacted Dagmar and Judy Jenner to weigh in on the issue. Please have a look at the NPR article “Mubarak’s Message: A Matter Of Interpretations.”
